Govt, Stakeholders urged to key into 2024 Ocean Decade Conference Statements.
The call for the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy and all maritime stakeholders in Nigeria to align with the 2024 Ocean Decade Conference Statement has been emphasized by Mr. Anthony Akpan, President of Pan African Vision for the Environment (PAVE), and National Coordinator of the Early Career Ocean Professionals (ECOPs) Network in Nigeria.
Following the conclusion of the 2024 Ocean Decade Conference in Barcelona, Spain, Akpan highlighted the conference’s focus on shaping future priorities for the Ocean Decade and the global ocean science agenda. Discussions were informed by the Vision 2030 process and aimed to establish a common vision for the future of ocean knowledge and science generation.
Akpan emphasized the importance of collaboration across international events, including the Immersed in Change Summit in Costa Rica and the 2025 United Nations Ocean Conference in Nice, France, to leverage ocean science for sustainable development.
