Give Indigenous Oil and Gas Companies Opportunity to Deliver – Fortune Global

The Head of Branch Operations, Fortune Global Shipping and Logistics Port Harcourt Branch, Chetachi Nwaoko, has called on stakeholders in the oil and gas sector to give indigenous companies in the industry the opportunity to prove themselves.

Speaking at the 2023 Nigerian Oil and Gas Opportunity Fair (NOGOF), Nwaoko stated that many indigenous companies have already demonstrated their ability to deliver and should be given a chance to contribute to the sector. He emphasized that capacity should not be used as an excuse, as every indigenous company has its own level of capability.

He said, “I want to believe that Chevron, Shell, and whatever big company you can talk about today, they were one time an indigenous company. They started somewhere. So we can also imagine how far they would have gone without being given the opportunities.

“The issue of capacity is not enough as an excuse for these majors not to patronize indigenous firms because everybody can perform on various capacity levels. My advocacy is to give them the opportunity and let them try.

Nwaoko also stressed the importance of local content participation in building the nation and creating employment opportunities. He urged regulators and operators to give opportunities to small, medium, and big indigenous companies in various areas of the oil and gas sector, including engineering, services, logistics, and security.

By providing these opportunities, Nwaoko believes that the level of insecurity and unemployment can be reduced, and the economy can be developed. He highlighted the significant impact of the oil and gas industry on the global economy, emphasizing that the more people are engaged in it and make it efficient, the better the economy and society will become.

He also highlighted on the services provided by Fortune Global Shipping and Logistics, which include shipping services, vessel clearance, cargo clearance, and shipping and logistics services. He explained that by facilitating the efficient movement of equipment and clearances of vessels and cargo, his company contributes to the efficiency of the oil and gas sector.
