Four Executive Directors Sacked from NPA and NIMASA- Tinubu Initiates Reshuffling

President Bola Tinubu has dismissed four out of the six Executive Directors at the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), appointing replacements in their stead. However, he has retained two of the current Executive Directors in each agency. NPA and NIMASA, both falling under the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, each have three Executive Directors.

In a statement released on Thursday by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu’s actions are part of a broader initiative to revitalize the marine and blue economy sector.

In the NPA, Adenrele Susan Adesina, the Executive Director for Finance and Administration, was replaced by Vivian Edet, while Olalekan Badmus took over from Onari Brown as Executive Director for Marine and Operations. Ibrahim Abba Umar retained his position as Executive Director for Engineering and Technical Services.

At NIMASA, Jibril Abba succeeded Victor Onyekachi Ochei as Executive Director for Maritime Labour and Cabotage Services, and Fatai Adeyemi took over from Shehu Ahmed as Executive Director for Operations. However, Chudi Offodile retained his role as Executive Director for Finance and Administration.

Ngelale conveyed that Tinubu approved these appointments with confidence in the new appointees’ ability to promptly and effectively fulfill their collective mandate. The aim is to enhance the marine and blue economy sector’s contribution to the nation’s GDP significantly.

The President anticipates that the appointees will work towards transforming the sector into a labor-intensive and inclusive one, aligning with the Renewed Hope Agenda. This transformation is expected to create new opportunities for all Nigerians, under the guidance of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola.
