First Marine and Engineering Services has announced a massive capacity expansion that would effectively improve its service delivery and client satisfaction.
The company, which is a wholly registered Nigerian firm, was incorporated in 1991 with business interest in Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation, Drilling, Dredging and Logistics services. It carries out operations for International and Indigenous Oil, Gas and Energy Companies operating in Nigeria’s onshore and offshore fields basically in the Niger Delta region.
During a chat with Majorwaves, the company’s CEO, Chief Joseph Penawou disclosed that First Marine is following a strategic expansion plan where it boosts its capacity through stockpiling and enlargement of some of the key equipment in its operating process.
He said, “Previously, we had just one jetty, but now we have additional three jetties; 1 – 40 metres, 1 – 29.1 metres, and a 20 metres. The slipway too —used to deploy vessels — is wearing a new look. It is computerised and now more convenient for maintenance and dry docking.”
He also used the opportunity to advocate for continued community engagement between businesses and their host communities, acknowledging that his company leverages the goodwill it shares with the host community.
“Beyond professionalism, we’ve leveraged robust community engagement and corporate social responsibility. Perhaps that’s why we’re thriving in the heart of Niger Delta.
“I’ll encourage every business operating in the Niger Delta to do the same. Community engagement cannot be over-emphasised,” he quipped.
