First E&P Reports 5 Million Man-Hours of Lost-Time Incident-Free Operations
First Exploration and Production Company Limited announced recently that it had successfully crossed the 5-million-man-hour mark of Lost-Time Incident free operations.
Lost-Time Incidents are accidents that result in a disability or an employee missing work or losing productive days. It also includes injuries that result in a fatality or permanent disability. Due to the high-risk nature of the oil and gas industry, companies are encouraged to track LTI.

The company said in a statement, “The milestone attained means that across all aspects of operations, FIRST E&P did not record any incident that resulted in injury or deleterious harm to personnel.
From the complex integrated development activities in the Anyala and Madu fields, to onshore fabrications, load outs, transportations, offshore constructions, drilling, hookups and productions and head office activities, the company delivered 5 million man-hours of continuous work without recording any Lost Time Incidents.
“Each personne, andhore and offshore is assigned a maximum of 8 hours and 12 hours of work per day respectively; and hundreds of personnel of were involved in all these activities.”

According to eCompliance, most companies aim at 1 million LTI and track their LTI frequency rate from there. Having five million man hours with zero LTI speaks to the robust safety culture, routine hazard assessment and capacity building that FIRST E&P does.
Globally, the International Association of Oil and Gas Producers (IOGP) records indicate that FIRST E&P’s LTI frequency of 0.00 was better compared to global industry 2021 average of 0.22. This is a world class performance by industry standards.
