FG Committed to Ensuring Energy Security, Says NDPHC CEO
The Federal Government, through the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), is reaffirming its commitment to ensuring energy security for Nigerians, particularly those in underserved communities. Engr. Jennifer Adighije, Managing Director and CEO of NDPHC, emphasized that electricity access is a fundamental right, not a privilege, during a nationwide tour of the company’s power plants.
Speaking on the importance of energy as a cornerstone of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, Adighije noted that electricity is integral to the president’s Renewed Hope Agenda. “The new management of NDPHC is committed to fostering energy security by building the capacity of our assets to bridge the access gap in the market,” she said.
Adighije further assured that NDPHC under her leadership is focused on boosting power generation across the country. She stressed the strong connection between adequate electricity supply and socioeconomic development, affirming NDPHC’s readiness to partner with states in a transparent and legal framework.
With the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) mandating distribution companies to sign bilateral agreements with generation companies, Adighije stated that NDPHC is prepared to supply power to business clusters and other key users, positioning the company as a central player in achieving President Tinubu’s vision for energy security.
During a briefing by the Chief Operating Officer of the Calabar Generation Company, Engr. Bex Ayoade, the COO appealed for management support to secure ISO certification for the plant, ensuring adherence to international best practices. Ayoade also highlighted the need for better staff welfare, including timely salary payments and a unified salary structure, as well as decentralized procurement for more efficient service delivery.
The NDPHC leadership’s tour and engagement with power plants underscore the Federal Government’s dedication to enhancing the nation’s energy infrastructure in line with its broader socioeconomic goals.
