Expert asks FG to develop policies, strategies for energy sector.
The National Sales Manager of Paulvic Interlink Limited, Chetachi Okereke, has said that the federal government needs to develop policies, strategies and build more collaborations to allow the local industrial players in the energy sector to survive.
Okereke, who spoke on the sideline of the Nigerian Oil and Gas (NOG) Energy Week Conference and Exhibition, said Nigeria needs more healthy regulatory policies for the oil and gas sector.
He said, “For me, I want to say the oil and gas industry is very important in Nigeria. It has come to stay, and it is our major source of income in the country. I want the government to develop policies, strategies, and more collaboration to allow the local industrial players to survive.
“We need more healthy regulatory policies. We should improve more on our safety awareness drive because it is everywhere, and it is everyone’s business. Paulvic is here to improve working life.
“We need to try and promote local content and partnership. There are foreign companies that want to deal directly with local companies, and we need to see how we can partner with them so that we can have that local content drive to grow the sector.
“If we have our men here that can do the job, why bring in an expatriate and have the naira dollar fluctuation? Why encourage capital flight? There should be more collaboration with the IOCs so that the indigenous companies can strive and provide the same services for the oil and gas industry.
Speaking on the 2023 NOG, Okereke said, “NOG has been the conference for anybody that wants to play big in the oil and gas industry. NOG is arguably the biggest oil and gas conference in Nigeria and West Africa if I may say.
“Why we came for NOG Energy Week conference is to see how we can improve our brand visibility, and awareness and create more networks in spreading our brand presence.
