Ethnic Youth Leaders Praise Kyari and NNPCL for Addressing Fuel Shortages
The Ethnic Youth Leaders have expressed their appreciation for the efforts of Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), and Adedapo Segun, the Executive Vice President, Downstream, in tackling the recent fuel supply disruption.
In a statement signed by their spokesperson, Malam Kabiru, and deputy acting president NG Emmanuel, the group commended Kyari’s commitment to ensuring downstream energy stability, aligning with President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda.”
They criticized the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) for demanding Kyari’s resignation, emphasizing his tireless work to guarantee adequate fuel supply despite existing challenges. They urged the students, as future leaders, to acknowledge and support his efforts in resolving the energy crisis.
The statement highlighted that the NNPCL, under Kyari’s leadership, is actively working to address the situation and has assured Nigerians that the ongoing fuel scarcity and queues will be resolved by Wednesday.
Key points from the statement:
- NNPCL has over 1.5 billion liters of fuel readily available, sufficient for at least 30 days.
- The three-day distribution disruption was caused by logistical issues, now resolved by NNPCL, but normalization takes time.
- Some individuals are exploiting the situation for profit.
- The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) agrees that NNPCL’s intervention will eliminate queues as more products become available for distribution, stabilizing the supply.
