Eni Awards 30 Postgraduate Scholarships to Nigerian Graduates
In a significant boost to education and skill development in Nigeria, Eni’s subsidiary, Nigerian Agip Exploration Limited (NAE), in partnership with NNPC Limited and NAE PSC, has awarded postgraduate scholarships to 30 exceptional Nigerian graduates for the 2024/2025 academic year. The beneficiaries were selected from over 600 shortlisted applicants based on their outstanding academic achievements and performance in a recently conducted Computer-Based Test (CBT).
The scholarship scheme will see 10 beneficiaries pursue postgraduate studies in prestigious universities in the United Kingdom and Canada. The remaining scholars will undertake their studies in Nigerian universities, focusing on disciplines such as Engineering, Geosciences, Petroleum and Environmental Technology, Renewable Energy, and Petroleum Law.
Speaking at the award ceremony in Abuja, NAE’s Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Mr. Fabrizio Bolondi, congratulated the recipients and emphasized the importance of the initiative in nurturing Nigeria’s future leaders. “This scholarship is a testament to our commitment to education, innovation, and progress in Nigeria. It’s a proud moment for us to recognize the remarkable talent and dedication of these scholars,” he stated. He urged the beneficiaries to remain committed to their studies to maximize the benefits of the initiative.
The postgraduate scholarship scheme, established in 2007, is part of NAE PSC’s human capital development initiatives aimed at bridging the skills gap in specialized fields critical to Nigeria’s deep offshore oil and gas operations. To date, 320 graduates have benefitted from the scheme, gaining knowledge and skills essential to the industry.
In addition to the scholarship program, Eni, through NAE, has implemented various sustainability projects across Nigeria. These include providing 22 integrated water schemes for domestic and irrigation use in North-East Nigeria and Abuja in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), donating advanced medical equipment such as MRI systems to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, and cardiothoracic equipment to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital. NAE has also established a Research and Innovation Laboratory at the University of Lagos.
Incorporated in 1996, NAE has been a pioneer in Nigeria’s deep offshore oil and gas exploration. With interests in six offshore blocks, NAE continues to lead in fostering education, innovation, and sustainable development in the country.
