Ekperikpe Ekpo Commends Optimera Energy for Advancing Gas Distribution Infrastructure

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, praised Optimera Energy LFZ Enterprise for its significant contribution to the development of infrastructure for distributing Natural Gas to companies within the Lagos Free Zone.

Speaking at the project’s flag-off ceremony, Ekpo applauded the visionary approach and commitment of Optimera Energy, considering the initiative a crucial step toward a more sustainable and energy-efficient future for Nigeria.

The minister highlighted the importance of Natural Gas in the country’s energy matrix, emphasizing its cleaner and more efficient solutions. The project, led by Optimera Energy, involves the construction of a 25 million standard cubic feet per day City Gate Station, scalable to 100 million standard cubic feet per day, along with ancillary infrastructure.

Ekpo sees this as not just about pipes and stations but as a foundation for economic growth, job creation, and environmental sustainability, ultimately positioning Nigeria as an economic giant through optimal utilization of abundant gas resources.

Managing Director of Optimera Energy, Mrs. Audrey Joe-Ezigbo, detailed the project’s scope, including distribution lines, a gas pipeline, and a 20-year Gas Infrastructure Development Agreement (GIDA) with the Lagos Free Zone Company (LFZC). She expressed excitement about contributing to Nigeria’s infrastructural development aligned with the nation’s aspirations for a Decade of Gas.

The Special Adviser to the President on Energy, Mrs. Olu Verheijen, and CEO of Lagos Free Zone Company, Mr. Dinesh Rathi, also lauded the partnership between Optimera Energy and LFZ, considering it a landmark achievement in Nigeria’s energy sector. The 20-year infrastructure development agreement signifies a commitment to responsibly harnessing Nigeria’s natural resources and providing reliable, cleaner energy solutions.

This initiative is poised to support the LFZ’s goal of becoming the preferred industrial hub in West Africa, offering world-class infrastructure and contributing to the nation’s energy transition to cleaner fuels.”
