EKEDC customers along the Ajah-Ibeju corridors to enjoy improved power supply
Residents and businesses along the Ajah-Ibeju corridors served by the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) can anticipate a significant improvement in their power supply. This development comes as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) inaugurates a 63MVA-132/33KVA mobile substation at the Ajah Transmission Station.
The installation of the mobile substation marks a crucial step in addressing the challenges faced by customers in the area due to a previously failed unit. This failure had led to load shedding and reduced power allocation, impacting the daily lives and operations of those within the vicinity.
The commissioning ceremony, presided over by the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring reliable and sustainable power supply across the nation. Chief Adelabu highlighted the significance of the project in enhancing transmission efficiency and reliability on a national scale. Notably, the mobile nature of the substation enables its deployment as a temporary solution during maintenance and emergencies.
Expressing gratitude for the intervention, Mrs. Rekhiat Momoh, the Acting Chief Executive Officer of EKEDC, lauded the federal government for its efforts in bolstering power supply infrastructure. She emphasized EKEDC’s readiness to collaborate with all stakeholders to realize the shared goal of uninterrupted electricity provision.
Key figures from the power sector graced the commissioning event, including the Minister of Power, the Lagos State Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, and executives from EKEDC, FGN Power Company, and TCN.
EKEDC reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing power supply through various initiatives, including bilateral agreements, renewable energy integration, and embedded generation. The successful deployment of the mobile substation marks a significant stride towards fulfilling the nation’s quest for reliable electricity supply.
