Egbin Power Drives SDG 4 with 9th Scholarship Awards, Fosters Academic Achievement in Host Communities

Egbin Power continues its strong commitment to promoting academic excellence and sustainable development through its annual scholarship programme. Now in its 9th edition, the initiative has welcomed a new group of beneficiaries, further demonstrating the company’s dedication to supporting the educational aspirations of children within its host communities.

This year’s awards align with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4), which focuses on ensuring inclusive, equitable, and quality education. Egbin Power’s scholarship programme aims to nurture future leaders, thinkers, and innovators by providing learning opportunities to children and youth.

Egbin Power CEO, Mokhtar Bounour, highlighted the long-term impact of the scholarship, which has helped students achieve academic success and gain the confidence needed to reach their full potential. “Education is not a privilege, it is a fundamental right that every child deserves,” Bounour stated. He also praised the role of parents, guardians, and teachers in supporting the students’ educational journeys, underscoring Egbin Power’s commitment to investing in the future of Nigerian youth.

This year, 14 students were awarded the scholarship, which covers tuition, textbooks, uniforms, and provides high-quality tablets for e-textbook access. The students will attend Powerfields Schools, an institution owned by Egbin Power offering nursery, primary, and secondary education.

Ngozi Emezue, Administrator of Powerfields Schools, praised the initiative’s transformative impact, particularly during tough economic times. “Egbin Power has eased the financial strain on families, giving students a chance to excel,” she said, noting the programme’s positive effect on academic performance.
