Egbin Power and Sahara Group Foundation Donate Fully-Equipped ICU to General Hospital Ijede, Lagos
In a move to improve access to critical healthcare, Egbin Power Plc and Sahara Group Foundation have joined forces to donate a brand new, five-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to the General Hospital Ijede, Lagos.
This initiative significantly boosts the hospital’s capacity to provide critical care to residents of Ikorodu and Lagos State as a whole.
Enhancing Critical Care and Emergency Response
The fully-equipped ICU is a major step forward in providing quality critical healthcare services. Previously, residents faced challenges due to the distance to the nearest ICU, leading to preventable deaths.
Egbin Power and Sahara Group Foundation believe this new facility will bring critical care closer to the people, improving emergency response times and overall healthcare delivery in the state.
Commitment to Community Development
Both Egbin Power and Sahara Group Foundation expressed their dedication to community development. Egbin Power sees the well-being of the community as essential, and this ICU donation reflects that commitment. They plan to continue seeking opportunities to make positive impacts through various initiatives.
Sustainable Impact for the Future
Sahara Group Foundation highlighted the importance of sustainability in establishing this ICU. The facility is equipped with top-notch infrastructure and equipment, ensuring long-term functionality.
General Hospital Ijede Expresses Gratitude
The Acting Chief Medical Director of General Hospital Ijede, Dr. Olumuyiwa Balogun-Oluwa, commended the collaboration and sees this ICU as a significant step towards the hospital’s vision of becoming one of the best in the state. The facility will primarily serve the Ikorodu community and Lagos State.
Egbin Power’s Continued Support for Healthcare
The ICU donation is just one aspect of Egbin Power’s commitment to healthcare in the community. Their other initiatives include a yearly three-day medical outreach program offering free screenings and medications, uninterrupted electricity supply to the General Hospital, free hospital-grade oxygen deliveries to Ikorodu hospitals, and quarterly free medication donations.
This dedication to improving healthcare infrastructure aligns with the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3 of ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all ages.
