EEDC Prepaid Meter Upgrade: What You Need to Know (With More Details)

Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) has recently addressed misleading information circulating about their planned STS prepaid meter upgrade and Token Identifier (TID) Rollover. To provide clarity and equip customers with accurate information, here’s a breakdown with more details:

The Misinformation:

  • A message circulating on social media claims customers need to “recharge sufficiently before February 20th to avoid being edged out of supply.”

The Truth:

  • This message is false and unauthorized.
  • The TID Rollover will occur later in February, not on February 20th.
  • There is no need to panic buy energy tokens.

Key Points:

  • Upgrade Timeline: The TID Rollover is expected by the end of February. Customers will be notified of the exact date closer to the time.
  • Information Update: Before the upgrade, customers must update their information using this link: https://validatecustomer.eedc.online/https://validatecustomer.eedc.online/. This is mandatory for a smooth upgrade process.
  • Vending Platform Disruption: During the rollover, the vending platform will be unavailable for approximately 48 hours. Ensure your meter has enough energy units to last this period.
  • Upgrade Process: After the rollover, your first energy purchase will include three codes:
    • KCT1: Resets your meter. Enter it first and press “enter.”
    • KCT2: Upgrades your meter. Enter it second and press “enter.”
    • Energy token: Recharges your meter with the purchased amount. Enter this last.
  • Previous Token Purchases: Load any existing tokens onto your meter before upgrading. These tokens will no longer be accepted after the upgrade.
  • Upgrade Cost: The upgrade is completely free. Do not pay anyone for this service.

Official Information Sources:

  • Email: [email protected]
  • Customer Service: 084 700 100, SMS/WhatsApp: 0815 082 6060/6061

Additional Tips:

  • Regularly check EEDC’s official website and social media channels for updates and accurate information.
  • If you have any questions or concerns, contact EEDC through their official channels.
  • Do not engage with individuals or groups asking for payments for the upgrade.

Stay informed and avoid misinformation! Share this information with others to ensure everyone is prepared for the upcoming upgrade.
