Edo Refinery Gets Green Light for Full Operation
The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has granted the Edo Refinery and Petrochemical Company Limited an operational license, allowing it to commence full operations. Located in Ologbo, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State, this final approval marks a significant milestone for the refinery.
The license was officially presented during a ceremony on Tuesday by NMDPRA’s Chief Executive Officer, Ahmed Farouk, accompanied by Francis Ogaree, the Executive Director of Hydrocarbon Processing Plant Installation and Transport Infrastructure. The license was received by Segun Okeni, Head of Technical Operations at Edo Refinery and Petrochemical Company Limited, a subsidiary of AIPCC Energy.

Farouk commended the refinery for achieving this milestone and encouraged continued progress in advancing the petroleum sector. Okeni, representing AIPCC Energy, expressed gratitude for the regulatory support and emphasized the company’s commitment to the petroleum refining and gas processing subsector. He also mentioned that AIPCC is currently developing three additional projects, with one expected to be completed within the next year.
Okeni outlined the series of regulatory approvals leading up to this operational license, including the License to Establish, License to Construct, and Approval to Introduce Hydrocarbon, followed by pre-commissioning, commissioning, and operational trials. The operational license not only signifies the completion of these regulatory steps but also positions the refinery to participate in future bidding rounds for marginal oil fields.
