EAST AFRICA MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY – The Welding Federation (TWF) and Rwanda Development Board (RDB) Meet on Growing African Content in Manufacturing
The management of TWF and representatives of the Rwanda Development Board held a meeting on African content agenda in manufacturing in Kigali on the 15th of September, 2023.
At the meeting, TWF availed RDB with information on its multi-layer activities on development and integration of national welding capacities for optimal socioeconomic impact of manufacturing industries in Africa.
Discussions purged out economic opportunities in Rwanda’s manufacturing industry untapped, and solutions being developed by TWF to aid access to these opportunities. Interactions touched on best approach for Rwanda’s involvement, clarification on TWF National Implementation Body status, implementation of other TWF instruments, and tools being deployed to build national capacities in welding and integrate same, for sustained growth in manufacturing industries in Africa.
The discussions gravitated to details about TWF Annual Conference 2024 on the theme “Materials Manufacturing Technologies-Managing Capacity Africa.” which is to hold at Eko Hotel. Lagos, Nigeria.
It was clarified that beyond regular exhibitions, TWF Assembly 2024 will feature cutting-edge experiential presentations by leading manufacturers across Africa; presentations on complex case studies with complications or challenges occasioned by either technological, environmental or human capacity issues and the innovative depth deployed in addressing these challenges successfully.
The combination of these frontline case studies will evidence verified depths which these companies have built through the years, establish verified tie lines for technical collaborations across the full spectrum of value chain activities in the manufacturing industry, provide academia with focus for research, equip investors with benefit of insight into the full technical capacity in Africa at their disposal, and also show possible gaps where profitable investments can be tailored.
Ayo Adeniyi conveyed managements desire to have experts and aspiring experts in welding and materials sciences, as well as manufacturers in Rwanda and East Africa join the knowledge and experiences sharing event by also making paper submissions.
Furthermore, the discussions also touched on modalities for participation in THE TWF continental welding competition segment of the conference which aims at expanding the depth and elasticity of welding skills to meet both current and projected industry demands as Africa recalibrates its manufacturing systems to address pressing socioeconomic realities.
