Dubawa Launches AI Tools to Check Misinformation.
The Dubawa Chatbot, unveiled alongside the Dubawa Audio platform in Abuja on Monday, is designed to provide accurate and timely responses to queries or claims, according to Monsur Hussain, Head of Innovation at CJID.
Hussain highlighted the tool’s unique capability, stating: “The Dubawa Chatbot has access to real-time internet data, unlike other AI tools like the ChatGPT and MetaAI, both of which do not have access to real-time internet data.”
During a demonstration, the Dubawa AI accurately responded to a query about the reinstatement of Sanusi Lamido as the Emir of Kano, while another AI tool, MetaAI, provided outdated information.
The Dubawa Audio platform, another initiative, aims to monitor radio programs, transcribe them, and extract verifiable claims, addressing challenges in fact-checking radio content due to its transient nature.
Speaking about the Dubawa Audio platform, Hussain explained: “Radio is a mass source of information in Africa. A lot of people listen to the radio daily. But then due to the transient nature of the radio, there’s really no way to keep track of everything that’s going on the radio.”
The chatbot underwent tests, displaying rapid responses and providing web links to back up its answers. For instance, it accurately responded to inquiries about President Bola Tinubu’s review of airport concessions, citing recent news articles.
