Dangote Refinery Refutes IPMAN Claims of Payment for Petroleum Products
The Dangote Petroleum Refinery (DR) has dismissed recent claims by the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) regarding payments for refined petroleum products. In a statement, DR clarified that it has not received any funds from IPMAN for the purchase of petroleum products.
While discussions with IPMAN are ongoing, DR stated that it has no current business arrangements with the association. The alleged payments, according to DR, were made to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), not to Dangote Refinery. DR further emphasized that NNPCL has neither authorized nor directed DR to release Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to IPMAN.
DR reassured the public of its capacity to meet Nigeria’s petroleum needs, including petrol, diesel, and aviation fuel, with the ability to load 2,900 trucks daily and dispatch products by sea. IPMAN members are encouraged to register directly with DR to ensure smooth transactions.
The refinery urged all stakeholders to avoid making unfounded statements in the media, as such actions could disrupt ongoing economic reforms led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. “Conducting business through public speculation is counterproductive and unpatriotic,” DR stated, calling for unity and collaboration to support the country’s economic goals.
