Dangote Refinery Refutes Claims of Petrol Unit Shutdown for Maintenance
Speaking with news men recently, a senior spokesperson for the refinery stated, “Loading of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) is ongoing as we speak.”
This response comes after a Bloomberg report claimed that a major fuel production unit at the refinery had been shut down for repairs. Bloomberg cited an unnamed source who said that the gasoline production unit, specifically the residue fluid catalytic cracker, was undergoing maintenance.
However, Dangote Refinery firmly rejected the claims during an interview, stressing that operations were continuing without disruption.
“It is not true. Don’t believe everything you see online. People can visit the refinery and see for themselves,” the spokesperson said.

“The report is false. We are loading fuel daily, millions of liters are dispatched every day. You can see the number of trucks leaving the refinery if you visit,” they added.
The 650,000-barrels-per-day Dangote refinery has recently stirred competition in Nigeria’s downstream oil sector by consistently lowering fuel prices, sparking a price war.
