Commerce and Industry Correspondents Association of Nigeria (CICAN), Abuja Chapter, has stressed the need for Nigeria to unlock its underutilised potential in the non-oil sector.

A statement issued by CICAN Chairman, Mr Frederick Idehai, on Sunday in Abuja said that the call became necessary in view of the need to reposition the country’s economy.
Idehai added that unlocking the potential in the non-oil sector would be the focus in the 2019 CICAN conference on economy scheduled for Oct. 24 in Abuja.
According to him, it is the second in series to be organised by CICAN with the theme “Next Level: Unlocking the Underutilized Potential in the Non-Oil Sector; The Role Of MSMEs, Export, Standards And Skill Acquisition’’.
Idehai said that heads of government agencies and major players in the nation’s economy from private and public sectors are expected to grace the occasion.
According the CICAN Chairman, the decision to institute the annual conference was borne out of the association’s passion to complement efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration towards charting a better path for the Nigerian economy.
He said that the event would also see to the unveiling of the second edition of CICAN’s Compendium, a publication that chronicles activities in the nation’s industry, trade and investment sector.
The conference will also avail stakeholders from the public and private sectors the opportunity to showcase their achievements recorded in their various endeavoulrs as well as the challenges militating against their operations.
