Chevron Nigeria Named Energy Company of the Year for Sustainability and CSR Efforts
Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL) has been recognized as the “Energy Company of the Year (2024)” for its outstanding achievements in environmental sustainability and corporate social responsibility. The award, presented by Nigerian News Direct on Friday, December 6, 2024, highlights Chevron’s ongoing commitment to sustainable practices and community development.
The prestigious award ceremony took place at the Grand Ballroom of the Oriental Hotel, Lagos, and was attended by dignitaries, government officials, industry leaders, and private sector stakeholders.
Chevron’s recognition stems from its implementation of the “Protecting People and the Environment” policy, which focuses on minimizing injuries, illnesses, and environmental incidents. Notably, the company has achieved an impressive 97% reduction in gas flaring in its Nigerian operations and has introduced robust waste management and environmental conservation programs.
In addition to its environmental initiatives, Chevron has made significant investments in community development programs. These include contributions to education, healthcare, and economic empowerment projects that have positively impacted thousands of lives. The company is also dedicated to fostering diversity, inclusion, and employee engagement across its operations.
Receiving the award from Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotosho, Chevron’s Manager of Communications for Nigeria and the Mid-Africa Business Unit, Mr. Victor Anyaegbudike, expressed gratitude for the recognition. He reaffirmed Chevron’s dedication to providing affordable, reliable, and cleaner energy that supports global human progress.
This honor underscores Chevron Nigeria’s leadership in promoting sustainability and making meaningful contributions to society, setting a benchmark for the energy industry in Nigeria and beyond.
