Chevron Nigeria Honoured with Sustainable Energy Business Award at NIES 2025

Chevron Nigeria has been awarded the prestigious Sustainable Energy Business Award at the eighth edition of the Nigeria International Energy Summit (NIES) 2025. The recognition was presented during the Gala and Awards Night held on February 25, 2025, at the Nicon Hilton Abuja.

The award was presented to Jim Swartz, Chairman and Managing Director of Chevron Nigeria, by Dr. Omar Farouk Ibrahim, Secretary General of the African Petroleum Producers Organization (APPO). The honour acknowledges Chevron Nigeria’s unwavering commitment to the social and economic development of Nigeria through sustainable practices in oil and gas operations.

Chevron Nigeria’s continued leadership in the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry was widely lauded by dignitaries who visited the company’s exhibition booth. The company was commended for its resilience and long-standing operations in onshore, shallow waters, and deepwater areas, setting it apart as one of the few international oil companies maintaining a robust presence across Nigeria’s oil and gas landscape.

During the summit, Jim Swartz participated in a high-profile panel session themed “From Resources to Revenue” at the Africa Upstream Forum. Other notable panellists included Mele Kolo Kyari, Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Ltd (represented), Shane Harris, Chairman/MD of ExxonMobil Nigeria, Matthieu Bouyer, MD/CEO of TotalEnergies Companies in Nigeria, and Osayande Igiehon, Managing Director of Heirs Energy.

Swartz emphasized the importance of adaptability, continuous improvement, and resilience for companies to remain competitive and profitable. He highlighted Chevron’s strategic focus on streamlining operations, fostering innovation, and enhancing organizational culture as key drivers of future competitiveness.
