President Buhari Calls for Support for Incoming Administration
President Muhammadu Buhari has called on stakeholders to give the incoming administration all the needed support towards the growth and development of Nigeria’s energy sector.
The president made the call recently in his speech to participants at the ongoing Nigeria International Energy Summit, (N.I.E.S), at the State House, Abuja.

Represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha, President Buhari noted that his administration has created a pathway for the transformation of the energy sector and as such capable hands must be on deck to consolidate on the feat achieved.
“Before the present administration came into existence, the oil and gas industry was in the dark but we brought innovation and embarked on numerous projects to take the industry to desired level.
“Stakeholders of the industry must therefore give the incoming administration all the needed support to help move the nation’s energy sector forward since the administration has given the green light and roadmap,” Mustapha said.
Boss Mustapha further stated that, Nigeria International Energy Summit, (N.I.E.S) which is a brain child of the administration has gathered leaders of thoughts and executives of the oil and gas sector to deliberate on the theme: ‘Global Perspectives for a Sustainable Energy Future’.
“NIES was organised to bring stakeholders together to chat the way forward for the industry six years ago and it has maintained its stance contributing to the numerous achievements in the Nigerian oil and gas sector,” he noted.
The event which commenced on the 16th of April, had as part of its activities an award night ceremony for outstanding personalities recognised for their contributions in the oil and gas industry.
Goodwill messages were presented by leaders in the oil and gas industry and other government agencies, such as Abdul-razaq Isa, Chairman of the Independent Petroleum Producers Group (IPPG), Rick Kennedy, Managing Director of Chevron Nigeria Limited and Chairman of Oil Producing Trade Section (OPTS), Omar Farouk Ibrahim, Secretary General, Africa Petroleum Producers’ Organization, (APPO), Ambassador Gabriel Aduda, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Simbi Wabote, Executive Secretary, NCDMB among other dignitaries.
