Akwa Ibom State Partners with NDPHC to Boost Power Generation
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has announced plans to collaborate with the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) to enhance power generation and distribution in the state. This partnership is a key part of the Governor’s Arise Agenda, which prioritizes improving power supply to support the state’s overall development.
During a meeting with NDPHC’s management, Governor Eno emphasized the importance of reliable power in driving economic growth, noting that the existing infrastructure, including the Ibom Power plant, would be leveraged. “We cannot say we have fully delivered on the Arise Agenda if we don’t have power for our people. Power is a facilitator of all other things you want to achieve,” he said.
The Governor also highlighted the role of the Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation (AKICORP) in assessing investment opportunities in the state’s power sector. He urged NDPHC to join forces with the state to manage and optimize power assets for mutual benefit.
NDPHC Managing Director, Engr Jennifer Adighije, affirmed the company’s commitment to partnering with the state. She expressed confidence in NDPHC’s capacity to meet the electricity needs of Akwa Ibom, including serving commercial, industrial, and eligible customers.
Adighije emphasized that NDPHC, with the largest generating capacity in the industry, is well-positioned to provide reliable and affordable electricity in line with the federal government’s Renewed Hope Agenda. She commended Governor Eno’s dedication to advancing the state’s development and assured him that NDPHC is ready to help realize his vision for the power sector.
The partnership marks a strategic step towards improving power infrastructure in Akwa Ibom, paving the way for increased industrial growth and prosperity.
