Adelabu Commissions 63MVA Mobile Substation in Ajah, Power Generation Hits 4,800MW.

In a significant stride towards bolstering Nigeria’s power infrastructure, Mr. Adebayo Adelabu, the Minister of Power, heralded the commissioning of the 63 Megavolt-Amperes (MVA) mobile substation in Ajah as a pivotal moment for businesses and households reliant on uninterrupted power supply.

Adelabu announced that the inauguration of the Zungeru power plant has propelled the nation’s power generation capacity to 4,800MW, marking a substantial leap forward in the country’s efforts to meet energy demands.

During the commissioning ceremony of the 63MVA, 132/33kV Mobile Substation in Ajah, Lagos, Adelabu expressed confidence in the government’s commitment to achieving a target of 6,000MW by December 2024, with the completion of Siemens phase one power projects.

“The addition of 628 megawatts to the national grid following the inauguration of the Zungeru power plant underscores our relentless pursuit of enhancing power generation,” Adelabu stated.

Highlighting the significance of the newly commissioned mobile substation, Adelabu emphasized its role as a catalyst for capacity enhancement within the transmission network, providing hope for improved electricity supply to businesses and households.

“The versatility of the Mobile Substation cannot be overstated,” Adelabu remarked. “From addressing major load centers to serving as a stopgap measure during maintenance and emergencies, its flexibility ensures swift responses to fluctuating power demands, contributing to uninterrupted service delivery.”

Adelabu further announced the remote commissioning of a 60 MVA Power Transformer at Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, which will bolster transmission wheeling capacity by 123MW, further enhancing electricity supply across Nigeria.

Acknowledging the collaborative efforts between the Federal Government, the German government, and Siemens Energy, Adelabu praised their partnership in facilitating the production and installation of world-class power assets.
