Adedeji Commends NPA on Domestic Crude Sales Initiative
Zacch Adedeji, Chairman of the Technical Sub-Committee on the implementation of the Federal Government’s policy on domestic sales of crude oil and refined products in naira, has lauded the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) for its exemplary leadership in ensuring the seamless operation of the One-Stop-Shop (OSS) initiative.
Adedeji, who also serves as the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), gave the commendation during his visit to the NPA headquarters yesterday. He highlighted the NPA-led OSS team’s pivotal role in driving the successful implementation of the presidential directive on domestic crude oil sales, describing the effort as a significant milestone in Nigeria’s energy sector reforms.
Speaking during the visit, Adedeji said, “We recognize that this pioneering effort is a significant achievement, and no doubt reflects your commitment and patriotism. We encourage you to maintain the hard work and dedication that has made this initiative a success. Our gratitude also extends to all participating agencies for their invaluable cooperation and support. Thank you for your outstanding teamwork and service to the nation.”
In his response, the Managing Director of the NPA, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, expressed gratitude for the recognition, stating that it served as motivation to further enhance their work. He credited the Honourable Minister of Marine & Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, for his leadership, which provided the foundation for the initiative’s success. Dantsoho also acknowledged the unwavering support of Adedeji, noting that the policy’s success has saved Nigeria billions of naira, boosted energy security, and ended the fuel scarcity that had previously plagued the nation, especially during festive seasons.
The initiative to sell crude oil and allied products in naira to domestic refiners has been widely praised as a transformative move for Nigeria’s energy sector. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration has been commended for providing the political backing to implement the policy, which is seen as a critical step toward ensuring sustainable energy security and economic stability.
