Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Prof. James Momoh, has confirmed the commitment of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) to bridge the metering gap in its jurisdiction over the next three years.
Momoh, who spoke at the commissioning of the Customers Complaints Forum office in Lokoja yesterday, said the metering gap currently in the Abuja Disco stands at 440,000 of its total size of over a million customers which is a 40 per cent deficit in metering.
He however noted that AEDC’s commencement of the Meter Asset Provider scheme, combined with the implementation of their meter roll-out plan “will inject an average of about 150,000 meters into the Abuja Disco network annually over the next five years.”
