AOW, NAPE & EAGE Forge Strategic Partnership to Showcase Nigeria’s Upstream Potential at AOW 2025

Africa Oil Week (AOW) is excited to announce a groundbreaking collaboration with the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE) and the European Association of Geoscientists & Engineers (EAGE) to spotlight Nigeria’s booming upstream sector at AOW 2025, set to take place in Accra, Ghana.

This strategic alliance underscores Nigeria’s progress in attracting investment, enhancing competitiveness, and improving operational efficiency. With renewed momentum in the country’s upstream sector, anticipation is high for Nigeria’s presence at AOW 2025.

AOW 2025: Poised to Be the Biggest Edition Yet

AOW 2025 is shaping up to be the largest edition to date, with key industry players already confirming their participation. The event will serve as a hub for international investors and energy stakeholders looking to explore opportunities in Nigeria’s marginal fields, Ghana’s prolific Tano, Keta, and Voltaian Basins, and Côte d’Ivoire’s thriving energy sector.

The growing participation of West African governments further amplifies interest in the event, as leaders collaborate to showcase new licensing opportunities and the true potential of the San Pedro Basin.

NAPE President, Mr. Johnbosco Uche, FNAPE, emphasized the significance of AOW’s location, stating, “With Accra just a short flight from Nigeria, the unprecedented level of interest from Nigerian stakeholders highlights the transformative nature of this year’s event.”

At AOW 2025, Nigeria’s public and private sectors will present a compelling outlook, highlighting key M&A opportunities and geological insights that will shape the future of the industry.

Paul Sinclair, Vice President of Energy for AOW, described the partnership as a “milestone for the region,” adding that “as Nigeria and Ghana ramp up production, capital investment and deal-making are more crucial than ever. AOW 2025 will serve as a platform to drive meaningful industry collaborations and ensure Africa maximizes its vast hydrocarbon potential.”

Showcasing Nigeria’s Geological Excellence

NAPE, a leading organization in Africa’s upstream sector, continues to drive exploration efforts and uncover world-class geological plays. Johnbosco Uche highlighted Nigeria’s expanding frontier, stating, “We are not just boosting production but unveiling new geological frontiers that will reshape global perspectives on the Niger Delta.”

Key discussions at AOW 2025 will focus on:

  • The impact of the Executive Order on the upstream sector and Nigeria’s competitiveness.
  • Infrastructure-led exploration (ILX) and development projects.
  • Deepwater exploration targets and new frontier basins.

With strong support from the Government of Ghana and the African Petroleum Producers’ Organization (APPO), AOW 2025 is set to be the focal point of African energy negotiations.

Ghana to Host Africa’s Energy Leaders

Edward Bawa, CEO of Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to hosting Africa’s top energy executives:

“GNPC is fully dedicated to welcoming all National Oil Company (NOC) CEOs for the 7th APPO NOC CEO Meeting. AOW 2025 will be the premier platform for deal-making between global private sector leaders, regulators, and NOCs. We are honored to host such an esteemed gathering.”

Adding to the excitement, GNPC will celebrate its 40th anniversary at AOW 2025, coinciding with the 7th APPO NOC CEO Forum, making Accra a key hub for African energy diplomacy and investment.

AOW 2025 will take place on September 15, 2025, in Accra, Ghana, bringing together Nigerian and international energy leaders for a transformative event.
